An important premise in modern marked based economies and societies is the right to freely choose your supplier. Right wing parties usually advocate this, but for the large companies, it is not always the most ideal thing; because it gives power to the consumer. You win the consumer's trust by making good products, and not by locking in everyone by way of contracts and updates. In the field of search engines the battle is fierce.
A lot of default Internet Explorer users are not all too happy with having to use Bing as their default search engine. This can be changed, but MS is not going to tell you how, as Bing is their product. But once you know your way around, it's a breeze to change even the standard searchengine.
